Project Esperanza Volunteer Training
Project Esperanza Volunteer Training
In development
Project Type
This is a pre-departure volunteer eLearning for Project Esperanza, a nonprofit serving Haitian communities in the Dominican Republic. This course will be publicly accessible via the organization’s website.
Challenge
Project Esperanza volunteers often arrive with limited cultural, historical, and logistical context for their work with Haitian communities in the Dominican Republic.
Solution
I am building a course with Articulate Storyline and Vyond that uses interactive multimedia, scenario-based reflection, and structured expectation-setting to provide essential cultural context and clarify logistical responsibilities before volunteers arrive in the Dominican Republic.
My Role
I am leading the full instructional design lifecycle for this project, from initial discovery and stakeholder alignment through learner analysis, performance goal definition, course blueprint development, script writing, storyboarding, media creation, and course build in Storyline.
Impact Goal
Volunteers will begin their experience with clearer expectations, stronger cultural understanding, and greater alignment with Project Esperanza’s mission, supporting respectful and effective engagement.
Online School Parent Orientation
In development
Project Type
This is an internal eLearning for parents of newly-enrolled students at a private online school. The 20-minute orientation will live within the school’s secure enrollment portal.
Challenge
Parents of newly-enrolled students in an online high school setting often begin the school year without a clear understanding of structural expectations, attendance requirements, available support systems, and the role they play in supporting student success in a virtual learning environment.
Solution
I am designing a parent orientation experience that uses short, human-centered video modules and structured acknowledgment statements to clarify responsibilities, reinforce the Parent Handbook as a primary reference tool, and reduce early friction for families transitioning into an online learning model.
My Role
I am leading the instructional design process from initial needs analysis and SME interviews through learning strategy development, module structuring, acknowledgment design, scripting, and stakeholder alignment prior to development handoff.
Impact Goal
Parents will begin enrollment with a stronger understanding of their role in a virtual learning environment and a clearer understanding of how to access support throughout the school year
